A father who shot and killed his two teenage children in a northwest Sydney suburb has been found dead.
The teenagers were found dead in their home on Hull Road in West Pennant Hills on Thursday night, sparking a massive manhunt for the suspect.
Their father, 68 year old John Edwards, was eventually found dead only a few kilometres away in a house in Normanhurst on Friday morning.
Police officials have stated that the shooting of the two teenagers was “premeditated and planned.”
“What we do know from the information available to us, this was a planned activity on the part of the 68-year-old male, and we are of the belief that shortly thereafter he has attended the address at Normanhurst and taken his own life,” Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Brett McFadden said.
Two registered firearms were also found at the property in Normanhurst, he said.
There were no records of recent criminal activity associated with the deceased.
Emergency services rushed to the home in West Pennant Hills and arrived at the property just after 5pm Thursday evening, where they found a 13 year old girl and a 15 year old boy dead in their bedrooms.
Seven ambulances and a helicopter attended the scene, but there was nothing first responders could do for the children.
